the story
Four roles, thirty years, and one thing underneath them.
He grew up in Czechoslovakia under communism, in a country where the safest thing a person could do was keep quiet and keep moving. At sixteen he lost his father in the Swiss Alps, an event that quietly assigned him four roles he would spend the next thirty years performing: provider, protector, hero, performer.
He built a career in mergers and acquisitions, a portfolio of cash-flowing real estate, and an international fitness franchise that grew to forty-five branches. He lived in California, the Czech Republic, Spain, and Florida along the way.
Success did not resolve the ache underneath it. After his family life came apart, he spent a decade seeking through several spiritual traditions, each one bringing him to a door none of them could open. Then one weekend he heard a truth that ended the seeking. He stopped searching for the Source of Life and began to receive.
What opened that weekend took the next two and a half years to unfold, in a community where he learned to be raw and unguarded in a way he had never been, and where he found his gift and began to share it. Then he left, and outside those walls he understood the second thing: he had never needed to find a community. He was already in one, wherever he stood. What remained was not a life to build but a life to give.

He now writes and teaches on the patterns that quietly bind a life, and the freedom on the other side of each one. Quietly Bound was the first book and Quietly Folded is the second, both written from the road rather than from the summit.
He is not a finished man, and he does not pretend to be one. What he has is the ground he has already covered, and a way of handing it to the person behind him.
